FTS LyoStar II
FTS LyoStar II™
The LyoStar II® is an R&D and process development freeze-dryer that provides unmatched process accuracy, reliability and unique ease-of-use features. The LyoStar II features RTD-controlled shelf temperature accuracy of +/- 0.5°C or better and vacuum control within 0.1% of set-point. Its robust 5.5 hp cascade refrigeration system enables shelf pull down from ambient to –40°C in less than 25 minutes, and the ultra-reliable scroll compressors feature just 3 moving parts . LyoStar II’s unique integrated arm-mounted touchscreen controls enable the operator to manage and monitor operations at the unit.

SMART Freeze-Dryer Technology
SMART Freeze-Dryer Technology is a patented system that puts
the experience of the world’s top lyophilization scientists into an
easy-to-use cycle development tool. Developed exclusively with
leading academics at The University of Connecticut and Purdue
University, this technology is available on the LyoStar II
freeze-dryer (including a retrofit option for existing LyoStar II systems). SMART Freeze-Dryer Technology patent no. 6,971,187 relates to the automated process control of using manometric temperature measurement.
SMART Freeze-Dryer technology eliminates the trial-and-error approach normally involved in developing new lyophilization cycles. It enables experts and novices alike to develop new cycles quickly, while also ensuring that those cycles are elegant and efficient. The SMART tools provide instant feedback on important product data — such as product resistance, heat flow, and product thickness — that was previously unavailable.
