AB Lorentzen & Wettre Felt Moisture Meter
AB Lorentzen & Wettre Felt Moisture Meter
Can you afford not to have control over your process?
L&W Felt Moisture Meter is the sixth generation instrument for profile measurements of the water content of press felts. Nearly 40 years of experience and development have gone into the instrument, which combines advanced functionality with usability. L&W Felt Moisture Meter has an array of new functions, such as moisture measurements in MD and CD, higher resolution, and extremely accurate measurement results using exact positioning in the press felt displayed as 2D and 3D images. These features are all intended to help increase productivity.
Regular measurements with L&W Felt Moisture Meter are the key to optimal dewatering in the press section and lead to fewer problems with machine disturbances and downtime – which in turn means big cost savings. By measuring the felt’s water content, before and after the press, dewatering can be easily optimized. Effective dewatering in the press section can reduce energy consumption in the drying section and increase production considerably; a 1% increase of dry content in the press section gives a 4% reduction in energy use in the dryer section. To optimize dewatering, action should be taken in the press section to avoid additional energy costs in the dryer section – something that quickly pays for itself.
Many new features contribute to increased machine productivity
The new L&W Felt Moisture Meter measures moisture in both MD and CD up to 3000 gH₂O/m². The instrument can also measure felt length as well as giving measurement positions. The measurement sample rate is 1000 measurements per second, which provides a higher resolution than earlier models. The unique, and now improved, microwave technology gives measurement results that are extremely accurate at the very high sampling rate. The results are presented as 2- or 3-dimensional images, which makes it possible to accurately pinpoint any problems in the press felt. L&W Felt Moisture Meter is 35% smaller and lighter than its predecessors. The new way of displaying measurement results means that felt and chemical manufacturers have access to more comprehensive data than has been possible previously – information that can influence product development. L&W Felt Moisture Meter has been developed on the basis of experience from hundreds of thousands of measurement hours per year and discussions with many users.
Better control gives reduced costs
L&W Felt Moisture Meter enables you to control felt quality, thereby reducing production costs. Using L&W Felt Moisture Meter makes it easier to find weak points in the press section, thus enabling you to take the right action at the right time. Just a 2 hour per year reduction in unplanned machine downtime could mean that the investment in an L&W Felt Moisture Meter has paid for itself. Control of the process quickly delivers a return on investment. Can you afford not to have control?
